Washington Post on Gosnell: “We should have sent a reporter sooner”

We believe the story is deserving of coverage by our own staff, and we intend to send a reporter for the resumption of the trial next week. In retrospect, we should have sent a reporter sooner. (Source)

You’re only intending to send a reporter now because you’re being called on the carpet by the independent media, bloggers, and twitterers.

I don’t think these guys get it yet. Credibility and Integrity mean you have to report on the truth.  If you refuse to report reality, the public will simply dump you as a credible source.  And then what?  What good are you as a reporter, then?  You collect a paycheck from “the man” to report what he wants, not what should be reported on.
