Trudeau has insulted Canadians on many fronts with this event. As we remember the thousands of Canadians who gave their lives to fight dictators and preserve freedom, the aspiring PM prefers dictatorships.
He needs to apologize immediately.
During the event, which itself was widely criticized for sexist and patronizing undertones, an audience member asked Mr. Trudeau which nation’s “administration he most admired.”
The party leader responded: “There is a level of admiration I actually have for China because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime and say we need to go green, we need to start, you know, investing in solar. There is a flexibility that I know Stephen Harper must dream about: having a dictatorship where you can do whatever you wanted, that I find quite interesting.”
The fact that the event had sexist overtones is another disgrace. Women deserve better.
But read that passage again and you’ll discover two themes that leap off the page: power and interventionism. He admires the communist thugs because they can do whatever they want and remain unchallenged by trifles like democracy and human rights. His comments are screaming power trip. In particular, he loves how it lets the State micromanage the economy as if it were their own Seven-11.
His comment also betrays his ignorance. China is on the verge of an economic crisis. Their command-and-control economic model has reached its limit. Other Asian economies like Korea and Taiwan achieved much better economic development without abusive dictatorships.
The Liberals like to denounce economic inequality, but China probably has more of it than any country on earth.
This is the mindset of a man who wants to run Canada. He’s a dangerous man. Look at his body of work and you see an immature boy who’s so rich that he’s disconnected from reality in many ways. Only a fool would vote for him. And only fools would invite him to speak at a Catholic school.
Neither Trudeau nor his trustee admirers are fit for office.
