Many of you have probably heard about the anonymous hacker/s who accessed a server belonging to the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit and obtained a large file containing document and email exchanges between some leading climate scientists going back as far as 13 years. Some of the documents seem to be concerned with hiding scientific results that don’t agree with the man-made climate change scenario. There are also references to destroying data. Some email messages actually suggest that others destroy data before its discovered under a Freedom of Information Act. In one email, dated November 1999, one scientist wrote: “I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature [the science journal] trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie, from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.”
If true (and there is no reason to believe otherwise) it would indicate cynical collusion among some climatologists in manipulating data to support the view that climate change is real and largely man-made. What has been the result of this scandalous revelation? The mainstream liberal media is largely ignoring or dismissing the story while the research institutions involved are into damage control mode (i.e. denial and obfuscation). As for governments, they smell the money, power and control climate change theory offers them and simply keep on trucking.
Below are three worthwhile articles on the subject. The first on the import of the hacking incident itself and the MSM response, the second an insightful article on a new book, the third Times Watch on the New York Times refusal to expose information obtained by illegal hackers.
