…and develop some nuance to morality.
The Pope has not condoned the use of condoms in the “fight against HIV” as a moral act AT ALL.
He is simply saying, and admitting, what we already know.
1. Homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.
2. Homosexual acts which use condoms are just as intrinsically disordered as those which don’t. With or without condoms, these acts can never be, by their nature, considered moral.
3. But, there is the obvious recognition that some immoral methods (i.e sex without condoms) are worse than other immoral methods (i.e. sex with condoms) in preventing the spread of HIV.
