The Commissars of Censorship U. are tripping all over themselves. Initially, they told Carleton LifeLine that they were denied the space because of offensive content, then later one of their more shrewd operators figured out that that wasn’t such a good PR line for a genuine University (for obvious reasons) so they subsequently changed their story. The new trial balloon offered floats the idea that the students were denied the space because the “Quad” (the location where the students wanted to setup their display) was not open to group exhibits. But that reason, we’re now all finding out, doesn’t square with the timeline or the facts, as reported here by LSN.
You know, folks, these Administrators are paid a big socialist buck to run these Academic ghettos, but their pathetic performance so far, and their major PR fumbling of this issue, is making them look like amateurs and the pro-abort bullies that they are – desperate to keep a lid on the debate and the truth of what abortion is.
This is a small point which I am sure is escaping the notice of the Commissars at Censorship U., but I think it should not be lost sight of by the rest of us. What has the debate been about so far? Has anyone said, “Hey, man, there’s a lot of discussion about freedom of speech and university rules on where you can put signs, but has anyone actually looked at the signs and asked a very simple question: is that what abortion is? Why, I wonder, doesn’t anyone want to discuss THAT issue? Isn’t that the real question?”
Are the pictures true?
That’s the question. And if they are true, then just why the hell is Carleton University and its hired thugs trying suppress it? That’s another important question to ask about the motives and the mentality of Censorship U. Authorities.
But our government and academic organs don’t make judicial decisions based on the truth anymore. They make their decisions on who offended whom. The offensiveness given might be justified. It might also be based on incontrovertible evidence. None of that matters. At Carleton University, if you offend someone, your right to speak your mind at a publicly financed institution is handcuffed and herded into the wagons. And it’s not an indiscriminate sort of offending, either. You won’t see, for instance, a pro-abort student having his right to expression suppressed. If that were to happen, well, we’d all be in the slammer except the Polyannas among us. At Censorship U., however, only feminist tears count when it comes to being offended in the eyes of the law.
That might sound great to the totalitarian Left, but when another person’s tears and guilt become the basis to fine and arrest the students of a university, that university ceases to be a university and becomes a symbol of tyranny instead.
Now that’s something to really cry about.
