Socon or Bust to be retired

My dear readers,

It is my intention to retire Socon or Bust before Christmas.

I have been planning to do this for nearly a year now, but just didn’t know when to let the curtain fall, so end of year seems to be the most appropriate.

The reasons for this departure are many and varied, with no one reason taking any priority over the other.  Sometimes, you just know when it’s time.  We’ve done some pretty important work over the past 5 years, especially considering the modest traffic that we get.  I’m very proud of what Socon or Bust and our readers have been able to accomplish for the betterment of society and the Church.   Exposing the rot in the Catholic Church and forcing the Bishops, Church Lapdog Press, and the rest of the KoolAid Krowd to face their evident scandals is a necessary function for the laity, much to chagrin of the go-along-to-get-along gang.  With the internet today, whether they like it or not, transparency is not merely a virtue, it is a requirement if you are to retain any credibility.  Besides, not all of us can be swept up in hopey, dopey  talk of a “new evangelization” with all of the toys that go along with it (i.e.Facebook, a Blog, and Twitter (O my!)).  Someone needs to point out that the new evangelization is nothing more than a PR stunt when the horse dung needs to be cleaned out of the stalls, first.

This is farewell, rather than goodbye.  I don’t know where or when or if I will return to the blogosphere.  I am leaving that decision to Providence.

In the mean time, I will be taking a long break to reflect on God’s plan for me and for my family.  Please keep Steve and I and our families in your prayers, and we will do the same for you.

A Blessed Advent, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to the many!

John Pacheco
Socon or Bust

p.s. I am still committed to bringing Michael Voris to Ottawa for a one night talk between May 21-24.  I also have a prior committment to a young lady to raise money for her to travel to Florida for some pro-life training in February.  After Socon or Bust closes down, these developments and associated updates for these events can be tracked on The Rosarium’s website.

  1. Hey Pacheco, I read you blog mainly for pro-life news. However, I have liked your expose on D & P and other parts of the church not adhering to the true Social teachings of the Church. While I feel overall your tone and criticisms can be much at certain times, I feel overall your absence from the blogosphere and retiring of So Con or Bust would be an absolute mistake. I don’t know if Steve can handle all this alone (is he retiring too?) Yes, Lifesite is larger than you and can “take up the charge” so to speak, but who will be there to continue putting D & P and the CCCB in the hotseat? Because Lifesite is larger I think they get shafted easier, but as a one man party I think you truly have more power in these situations to be less visible on the radar. I feel if you leave, there will be no one on their coattails and it will be business as usual.

  2. Will the blog materials themselves remain online? There’s a lot of great information here and it would be a shame to lose it.

  3. My friend Norm wrote this to me, and I will share it with you John.

He wrote, We are all on a collision course with God. That was all he wrote and I sense that you have been hurt too by the majority of our so-called brothers and sisters.

Norm was also a good friend of Tom Landers, the professor who told me to write to your website, when the popular media started to censor my letters. Thanks for the practice of improving our verifiable arguments.

We are members of a fallen fallen humanity. Jesus said their will be many wolves in sheep’s clothing. In 1962 Engel vs Vitale, is the court case that separated Christianity from State schools in the West. First prayer, The Ten Commandments were taken out of schoolrooms and courtrooms, then government and law, then no fault divorce was legalized, after that abortion the killing of babies in their mothers wombs, and now the normalization of homosexuality taught from Kindergarten, even with all the verifiable science confirming the morbidity of this.

There are and were only few real Christians to allow this to happen politically in former Christian democracies. The masqueraders, the phoney’s are on a collision course with God, and they will deserve everything that they have earned. Norm the remnant of few real Christians follow their God, while Canada and The West have changed their name to Sodom, by government decree and court enforcement, and so have most of our citizens at the ballot box. Will they change their minds? I hope so for humanities sake. Without Christianity there is no real inalienable human rights as Genesis 1:27 points out. Merry Christmas and Happy Holy Days Norm. Church mentioned in the Bible meant a party of Christians, and not a building. Blessings.

Thank You John for this oasis in the the wilderness. Blessings to you and yours, Merry Christmas and Happy Holy days.

  4. I thank you very much for the work you have done with this blog. I wish you and Steve G all the best and hope that we may some day hear of your return to the blogosphere! In the meantime, I wish you and your families a Blessed and Merry Christmas and all the very best to you in the New Year.

  5. I’ve appreciated reading your posts and realize that there is a lot of effort involved.

Merry Christmas to both of you and all the readers.

  6. It’s quite sad to learn that this blog would be no more. Hmm. God bless you always Mr. Pacheco. Greetings from Ghana where the Sodom inspired threats has been rejected by us all.

    Pax teccum.

  7. SoCon has been a daily check-in for me for a long-time. I will miss the work of both of you here and I await the next chapter for the both of you in the battle.

May the LORD of the Advent bless you all and your families and may you have a blessed and happy Christmas.

P.S. Gadel, nice to hear that there is still sanity in Africa!

  8. Dear John,

I Just got back last night, and as is my usual habit, especially if I have been away for any time, I checked my email and also went to soconorbust.

It is one of the few blogs and websites I always look forward to visiting because of the Truth I have been Blessed to find there.

I will admit I was sorrowed to hear of its retirement, but alas…if it is Gods Will for you and I am sure you have discerned what is best for you and your family and everybody at this time, then I can only say thank you again for all you and Steve have contributed to as far as I am concerned one of the best websites
    around.

Words cannot describe how grateful I am to you for everything
and I hope people can still access all the Catholic Information
they may need if they are serious in following the greatest and Truest Way to God through the Blessed Intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, and Virgin Queen.

There are so many things I want to say, and again the best still is Thank You, God Bless you and your beautiful family, and may
He lead you, keep you and love you as you venture along in your journey.
Thank you for your undying commitment to help bring to light what is hidden and hurts God, and at the same time shows how much you love Him and Hid One and Only Apostolic Church.

You are truly one who desires only for the Truth and as I have said before the blog was a breath of fresh air, in a world full of corruption, deception and mediocrity passing as Faith, and people who have decided to fall asleep or remain silent while God cries out to be heard, especially from the unborn Innocent in their Mothers’ wombs.

I want to be honest and say, Oh…I hope he changes his mind!,
or returns shortly after his break, but I leave that up to God and you, of course.

    God Bless you and yours
    and Blessed Advent
and Happy, Holy, and Blessed Christmas

    In Him
    For Life
