Lapdog Press and Liberal Bishops The Greatest Threat To The Catholic Church Today

Bishops in many nations, he said, have “refused” to say “uncomfortable” things about birth control or homosexuality. He pointed to the current move in several parts of the Catholic world to reduce the number of days outside of Sundays that Catholics are under a serious obligation to attend Mass.

“The constant stream, the constant message, is that being Catholic is fourth or fifth on the list of importance in life.”

The work of groups like RealCatholicTV garnered criticism from Terrence C. Donilon, the spokesman for the archdiocese of Boston, who told AP, “The lack of civility is very disturbing.”

This accusation of a “lack of civility” or “a lack of charity” is becoming a common one for Catholic officialdom to level at Catholic internet activists. It was reiterated in 2009 by a member of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Social Communications.

During a Vatican-sponsored conference in Rome last year, Fr. Thomas Rosica, the head of Canada’s Salt and Light Television, suggested the creation of “some sort of framework or guidelines” for bloggers and other internet sites that are pressing for a greater emphasis on doctrinal orthodoxy from Church leaders and institutions. There has to be “some form of oversight provided by the Church,” Rosica said….(Source)

Oversight by a liberal? Oversight by a liberal?  You must be joking.

If a bishop or other liberal church bureaucrat is not with the Faith and tries to lie and deny the truth of what is going on, we are not with the Bishop or any of his lapdog pressmen.

It’s as simple as that.

Can you imagine where we would be right now with Development & Peace (and any other Catholic scandal, for that matter) if the Catholic blogosphere was under the thumb of Fr. Tom Rosica and the continual and ludicrous softball coverage his “Channel of Hope” gives to the D&P abortion scandal?

Socon or Bust under the oversight of a liberal cleric or bureaucrat?

  1. They can’t even stop “Catholics for Choice” from using the word Catholic. There is no way for them to even begin doing this. Rosica is basically calling for a dictatorship, with him in charge. He forgets that the Church is the people, all the people, and they don’t have a firm hold of it, and they never will as we are Jesus’ bride.

  2. If a clergyman, even a bishop, were to order us to do something against Church teaching, we would have the *obligation* to disobey.

  3. Steve G, is this what you are referring to from the Catechism?

“2242 The citizen is obliged in conscience not to follow the directives of civil authorities when they are contrary to the demands of the moral order, to the fundamental rights of persons or the teachings of the Gospel. Refusing obedience to civil authorities, when their demands are contrary to those of an upright conscience, finds its justification in the distinction between serving God and serving the political community. “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”48 “We must obey God rather than men”:49

“When citizens are under the oppression of a public authority which oversteps its competence, they should still not refuse to give or to do what is objectively demanded of them by the common good; but it is legitimate for them to defend their own rights and those of their fellow citizens against the abuse of this authority within the limits of the natural law and the Law of the Gospel.50”

This was found under the “Authorities and Civil Society.” Thing is if this were a bishop he doesn’t fall under civil society though, he falls under clergy. Does it still apply or are you stretching it a bit? Any sources to say it can apply to our clergy as well?
