The founder of the Islamic Supreme Council of Canada (ISCC) asked for a meeting with the Herald’s editorial board via an e-mail, arguing that Levant was “attempting to paint me as a hate-mongering, anti-Semitic, Wahabi radical who wants to see Canada governed under sharia law. Nothing could be further from the truth.”While preparing for the meeting, a quick search on Canwest’s library system showed a Jan. 17, 2004, column written by the cleric. In it, he wrote: “Sharia cannot be customized for specific countries. These universal, divine laws are for all people of all countries for all times.”
In the same column he also boasts: “I am one of the founding members of the Islamic Institute of Civil Justice. The mandate of the institute is to resolve disputes within existing Canadian laws by using the principles of conflict resolution from Islamic Law, or sharia.”
His column is clear. He wanted to bring sharia to Canada and even helped found the organization that spearheaded the drive to do so…. (Source)
The real threat here is not the Imam. The real threat is the pinheads in government who we elect as politicians. They bury their heads and worship under the cult of multiculturalism and treat all religions as if they were equal when they are clearly not. It’s as if by slapping the phrase “human rights” on something, indeed anything, they can have the moral authority to dismiss the inalienable right of Canadians to tell the public that the emperor has no clothes. And what is worse, if we dare challenge the current marshmellow politic which is suffocating Canada and leading it to ruin, they allow our opponents to sic the HRC dogs on us to silence us for offending their sexual or religious sensibilities.
There is a chance that the politicians will eventually come around on this issue. But that will be no victory for Canadians. It will show us that they — and indeed we — treat freedom of speech as merely another political issue buried somewhere down the line with 445 motions before it. Instead of being willing to sacrifice greatly for it –even their own political lives (God forbid!) — the finger is in the air waiting to see which way the winds blow.
That says more about the politicians in this country than anything possibly could.
