Harper is not the man

The Conservatives would govern the same way with a majority government as they have with a minority, avoiding socially conservative moves such as cracking down on abortions, Stephen Harper said Monday. (Source)

Harper is no pro-lifer, but maybe he’s the lesser of all evils among the major parties. At least he’s being up-front with pro-lifers about what not to expect.

  1. Harper may not be pro-life, but if more of our cafeteria Christians would get involved in life issues, then he would have to listen to us. But with the apathy emanating from our pews, nothing will happen politically until something happens spiritually.

  2. I agree.

I’ve often wondered whether there are enough faithful Christians in Canada to make a serious dent in the political landscape. Is it just a question of mobilizing existing faithful Christians or are there too few of us to make a difference (in which case we need to clean our act within our churches first)?

    I don’t have an answer.

  3. I wonder how long it will be before some smart Liberal leader realizes if their party makes even a small concession on the abortion issue they could very well steal the socons base away from the CPC.
