Follow through with what you just said, Mr. Harper

Interesting article here on Harper’s view of the recession.  The last few sentences are worthy of commentary:

In Mr. Harper’s mind, faith has less to do with a particular religion and more to do with morals, he said.

Wrong.  Mr. Harper, stop being politically correct. What the heck do you think influences “morals” if not PARTICULAR religions?

“Faith in all its forms teaches . . . that there is a right and wrong beyond mere opinion or desire. Most importantly, it teaches us that freedom is not an end in itself, that how freedom is exercised matters as much as freedom itself.”

Well, I must say, that I agree with you Mr. Harper. In fact, the Catholic Church has been saying this for the past 30 years.

Now, when are you going to put that idea in practice when it concerns your rabidly hands off view towards abortion?

  1. Not gonna happen. No way, no how. Best accept that the only answer to your concern is going to be by way of educating the public – as there is no possible way you are ever going to convince the government in Canada to ban abortion. And, to the extent that you do press the government, and try to have candidates adopt a “pro-life” position, you’re only going to undermine the conservative movement in general.

The separation of Church and State is esconced in this country, and well it should be. Efforts to erode that will be met with increasing liklihood of Liberal governments who will take children from their parents homes, who will force you to educate children about “alternative lifestyles”, etc.. so, pick your battle.

  2. Rob H. You are mistaken about the”Separation of Church and State” situation in Canada. Topping our most fundamental legal documents is “The Supremacy of God and the rule of Law.”

Our head of State, Queen Elizabeth, is also “Defender of the faith”…the Christian (Anglican) faith that is.

State and Church are married in Canada. We are not a US State yet. Our current crop of government adminstrators choosing to abandon the truth and refusing to defend the lives of innocent Canadian citizens is simply cowardice masquerading as amorality. It is also not representative of the majority.

    God will act soon.
