My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
As many of you are aware, the recently concluded Synod of the Family held in Rome has shown that there is a movement in the Church to distort and manipulate the Church’s teaching and pastoral practice on human sexuality and the indissolubility of marriage. Some of these modernist propagandists have been even caught lying in asserting some very imperialist views of the African bishops who don’t share their progressive views on marriage and homosexuality, while others have the audacity to propose that St. John Paul II’s monumental Apostolic Exhortation, Familaris Consortio is “outdated” and “needs updating”.
And to compound this problem, my dear friends, is that many of these prelates are now in very influential positions in the Church and in the management of the Synod in particular. In fact, they almost slipped a scandalous mid-term report by the whole Synod. If it was not for the resolute determination of holy Cardinals and bishops to set the record straight, they might have succeeded. But they will be back next October to try again and they are already “greasing the skids” to ensure that a fraudulent “pastoral approach” to marriage and human sexuality is accepted by the Church.
The Catholic Church, however, is not going to fall on these questions. She is indefectible. How She stays indefectible, however, is a mystery only known to God. And at this time in our salvation history as this great battle unfolds, it is the laity who must take up the battle to defend Holy Mother Church’s teachings. We must rise up and embolden our courageous bishops to defend the sacredness of marriage and human sexuality.
We can make a difference. We can save the Church from great harm and confusion if we mobilize and defend the sacredness of her teachings and practice. So let’s do it!
To that end, please consider signing this petition and sharing it with as many friends and family members as possible. Use all means of spreading its plea — E-mail, Discussion Boards, Blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Phone, Word-of-Mouth.
Christian communities that maintain a firm grasp on their doctrinal and moral boundaries can flourish amidst the cultural acids of modernity; Christian communities whose doctrinal and moral boundaries become porous (and then invisible) wither and die.
Yours in Christ Jesus,
The Catholic Legate
