Card. Dolan “would not suggest” pro-abort Gov. Cuomo not a Catholic ‘in good standing’: archdiocese

I’m getting so sick of this political gaming going on.   So, if the Cardinal would not suggest that Cuomo is not a Catholic in good standing, then, by definition, Cuomo is a Catholic in good standing….as a pro-abort politician.  Really.  And then the Church’s leading lights wonders why we are still stuck in this culture war.

  1. Quote:

“The Cardinal was very clear throughout…that he and the governor have very different positions on abortion, and he has been forthright with the governor on the matter, in public and in private,” said Zwilling. “But he has not made any statement about the Governor’s faith or standing in the Church.”

Translation: abortion is optional teaching. One guy can oppose it and another guy can support it, but both are “good Catholics”. It’s all a matter of personal preference.

    Welcome to the anti-evangelization.

Is there any recourse in Canon Law for the laity to initiate a process against this type of clergyman?
