Socon or Bust, as some readers might knows, runs on WordPress. WordPress is probably the most popular blogging platform on the Internet right now because it allows for maximum features and options. It’s kind of like the VHS over Beta in video tapes, if anybody remembers what that was like. (Go on, admit it, your Dad bought the Beta video machine.) Anyhow, WordPress does have some issues from time to time with compatability of the plugins and other issues, but since we moved over to WordPress from Blogger, I can say that I’ve been very happy and impressed with its functionality and breadth.
In the last few days, my account CPU usage at my Host was at 100%. After some digging around on the internet, I discovered it was because WordPress does not have a built-in cacheing mechanism. But there is a Plugin for it, which I have installed today. The long and short of it is this: you will see a marked improvement in the speed of loading blog entries. All of the March blog entries should load quickly, as well as new posts going forward. There should be little to no delay. Older posts might still experience a delay until all of the posts on the blog are accessed the first time since I installed the Cache plugin. After that, they too will load immediately. I estimate that it’s going to take until about Tuesday or so before all of Socon or Bust’s posts are cached on the Server.
I try and keep Socon or Bust relatively current and useful with all of the bells and whistles that this wonderful technology has to offer. Once again, sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused to our readers. ‘Bust is going to be lickity split in a little while which will also help our Google rankings too.
