At vespers that evening at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Ottawa Archbishop Terrence Prendergast spoke of Pope Benedict XVI’s encyclical Caritas in Veritate that stresses respect for life cannot be detached from human development. The Pope knows that acceptance and openness to life “strengthens moral fibre,” he said, and can help wealthy cultures such as Canada’s better understand the poor. (Source)
I think this is great. And I commend +Prendergast for his leadership in this ongoooooooooooooooing controversy.
But I really need to ask this: did we really need Caritas in Veritate to tell us that abortion isn’t included in human development? Really?
