All in the Family

OTTAWA, September 22, 2009 ( – In a September 18, 2009 press release, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) promoted donations to specific programs of UNICEF Canada and two other groups.  Even though the funding suggestion was to be earmarked, the announcement shocked leaders in the pro-life movement, especially those who deal with UNICEF at the international level, since UNICEF has increasingly become an “abortion advocacy organization”.

This is a follow-up news story from the one I reported here.

Development & Peace is not some rogue organization. They are simply following what the CCCB does.

It’s all one big happy family.

The Bishops need to grab a clue because if they don’t,  I guarantee that there are rough times ahead for unity in the Church.

Count on it.

  1. Since UNICEF promotes abortion, why does the CCCB promote donations to UNICEF? I think that they should terminate donations to UNICEF and instead spend money on a media campaign to inform Canadians about what abortion really is and how many children are murdered in the womb every year. Perhaps some info on abortion methods might help clarify things too. With all respect to the CCCB, it should really start taking the sanctity of human life seriously. As a Catholic, it’s hard to convince someone that abortion is immoral if all they have to do is point to the CCCB and say, “Well, they recommend donating to UNICEF, and UNICEF promotes abortion and blocks pro-life initiatives”.
