Alabama Woman Charged With Manslaughter for Killing Unborn Baby

Florence, AL ( — An Alabama woman has been charged with manslaughter for intentionally killing her unborn child by severing the umbilical cord before birth. Jennifer Darlene Johnson was arrested by authorities after she came to the hospital and doctors realized that she took the life of her child.

The thirty-year-old woman is being held on a $50,000 bond and officials indicate she doesn’t have a lawyer yet.

Johnson was between 26 and 30 weeks pregnant when she arrived at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield Friday night saying her water broke and complaining of bleeding.

Captain Ron Tyler told the Associated Press that the baby was dead when delivered at the hospital and medical personnel determined that Johnson cut the umbilical cord before going and while the baby was still in her womb.

“Investigators believe the evidence demonstrates that the death of the infant is directly related to the intentional severing of the umbilical cord,” Tyler told AP.

He would not give any details on whether the case involved a condition called prolapse, where the umbilical cord sometimes moves out of the birth canal, or whether Johnson intentionally tried to kill her baby or do an abortion on herself.

“The answer is going to best be reserved for court as to what the motive was,” he said.

AP indicated police said the umbilical cord appeared to have been severed at the house of Johnson’s boyfriend.

Tyler was charged under a law allowing a manslaughter charge in the case of a reckless death, although the charge could increase to murder depending on further investigation in the case and after talks with the district attorney.

Jerry Pigg’s voice began to crack and tears rolled down his face as he read a portion of a letter he wrote to a daughter he will never hold or even see alive.

“I know you are in heaven with God, and you will see what life would have been like with me and your brother,” Pigg said as he held the letter. “But you are in the best hands there is and don’t be sad; we will all be together one day so just be good. Daddy and brother will be there soon and don’t forget daddy will always love you regardless.”

It was through tears that Pigg wrote those words Monday, three days after learning his unborn daughter had died. He said the letter has helped him to cope with the loss, but he still has questions about what led to her death and why the child’s mother is now facing manslaughter charges.

“(Writing the letter) was the best way to express how I was feeling, and I cried like a baby,” Pigg said.

It’s a situation he prays he will never face again.

Pigg, a single father of a 3-year-old boy, received a telephone call Saturday morning informing him that his unborn baby girl had died as a result of a miscarriage.

If that weren’t enough to deal with, another telephone call from his mother Monday afternoon brought more devastating news and left Pigg in tears.

That’s when he learned that the unborn child’s mother had been accused by police of killing the baby.

“I went from sad to mad,” Pigg said. “I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It was a call I wasn’t expecting.

“That call liked to have killed me. I felt like the world was crashing in on me.” … (Source)

Aside from the brutality of this murder of an unborn child (which if it was performed in a hospital would have been perfectly legal), the tragic loss of the child to the father is something this sick feminist-butched society refuses to acknowledge.  Fathers are treated worse than animals in our family law courts, and they have absolutely no say over a “woman’s body”.  At least this woman will be facing the music.  Hopefully, she’ll do some serious time behind bars, but don’t count on it.
