40 Days for Life Campaign

During the Fall period from September 24 – November 2, 2008, Ottawa was one of 170 cities across North America participating in the largest and longest coordinated pro-life mobilization in history — the 40 Days for Life campaign, which started back in 2004. This year the campaign saved close to 600 lives and continued to reduce the number of abortions at the Abortion Mills and even shut down some abortuaries. 40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of 40 days of prayer and fasting, 40 days of peaceful vigil, 40 days of community outreach. In Ottawa, over 750 people participated in the vigil with approximately 2000 hours of prayerful vigil presence outside of the Morgentaler Abortion Mill on 65 Bank Street. At least 3 babies were saved. SCU was involved in the coordination and mobilization efforts. The 40 Days for Life Campaign takes place each year during Lent and the Fall seasons. (08.09)
